The Taiwan International Healthcare Training Center’s Acupuncture and Training Medicine Training Program, held at the Taipei Hospital, allowed me to deepen my expertise in TCM, enhancing my practice.

I joined the month-long program in 2019, which allowed me to shadow and learn from accredited doctors and masters of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Through the program, fellows were able to learn about the history of TCM – from its historic practice and documentation, to its near-extinction during the Cultural Revolution of 1996 – to its survival in Taiwan and different parts of East Asia, through the protection of doctors and scholars who fought to preserve the craft.

Through this cultural experience, as well as the opportunity to practice in-clinic, I was able to deepen my experience of the delicate art and practice of TCM – drawing from Taiwan’s rich and complex history.
